GED Graduation

December 2013

The Perry Adult Education Program awarded a GED Certificate to Kevin Salter  upon his completion of the program. In this photo heis receiving his certificate from Perry Adult Education Program Director Ed Ward Rowles.

Thanksgiving Donation Drive

November 2013

With the generous support of individual and organizational supporters, the Perry Center was able to raise $1,300 toward providing 100 families in need with food baskets for the Thanksgiving holiday.

New York Ave Recreation Center Meetings

October 2013

The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced its partnership with the Perry School Center to expand program and service offerings in Wards 5 and 6 last summer. The Perry Center will operate programs for youth, adults and families at the newly renovated New York Avenue Recreation Center, bordered by 1st and 2nd Streets, New York Avenue and N Streets, NW.


The Perry Center and DPR provided residents and interested parties to join in conversation about the vision for the New York Ave Center and to provide input on activities and services.


Night at the Museum

June 14, 2013

The Perry School was honored to host “A Night at the Museum.” Under the tutelage of Albus Cavus and inspired by Roy Lichtenstein, Frank Stella, Rene Magritte, Pablo Picasso, Dale Chihuly, Andy Warhol, Vincent Van Gogh and more, the Young Artists of the Perry Center developed outstanding art work that was displayed and available for silent auction.


Community Day

August 10, 2013

Community Day iss a collaborative event held annually at the Perry Center with community partners - government agencies, community groups, and local churches - to celebrate our community and to build neighborhood relations.


The day featured educational workshops, health seminars, and access to support services to help families. Additionally there were children’s activities, giveaways, competitions, food and other fun events.


Summer Camp for Children

July 2013

Perry Center, Inc. offers summer camp programs for kids in the Perry After-School, HIPPY and Truancy Remediation programs.  The summer camp experience includes academic enrichment, creative arts classes, dance training, and skills to live in harmony with others and to resolve conflicts in a win / win fashion.

5th Annual Kentucky Derby Fundraiser

May 2013

Held for first time at Penn Social in Penn Quarter, the Perry Young Leadership Council in association with RaiseDC, celebrated 5 successful years as one of D.C.'s best charity events with special guest DJ's, and a bigger, more elaborate Best Dressed Competition. Stick Pony Race

April 7, 2013

Teams decorated stick ponies and competed in head-to-head races with the winner taking home free tickets to our Kentucky Derby Party in May. Click "Read more" to view some great photos from the event and see who the winners were.

Perry School Community Services Center, Inc.  paid tribute to Mr. Paul McElligott - the spirit of the Perry Center and long-time Executive Director.
